Seriously impressive and large 19th century period door knocker , a rare find in untouched condition. This one will impress your visitors before they have entered your home , if you have an appreciation of history this knocker with its detailed symbolism and patination is unique and highly decorative. The design features a green man or lions head , ringed striker hangs through the mouth and has a coiled snake detail around the ring. The knocker is heavily worn but still retains crisp detailing, remnants of old paint and surface patination give it an incredible feel. Relatively simple to install , three holes needs to be drilled through your door surface for the main section , striker plate below is fixed from the front and held on with two screws.
Perfect finishing touch to any entranceway or door refurb project. Add some history and drama too your doorway. Approx dimensions are 29cm high, 15cm wide and 5.5cm (deep) projection off the surface.
The bolt length would suit a door approx 4cm thick or deeper if the fixing was counter sunk when fitting. When fitting the bolts could be tightened against the rear door surface or countersunk into the surface and covered with a decorative wood or metal cover plate maybe. Very heavy piece at over 3.5kg.
