Charming, interior doors salvaged from an old home in northeastern pa. The doors are made of either solid douglas fir or pine and are completely painted white. They have a traditional, arts & crafts style design with 2 recessed (flat) panels on both sides.
When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. Hardware: the doors are not equipped with any hardware.
Uneven size: the height of door#1 and the width of door#4 were unevenly cut by 1/4 most likely to accommodate a warped floor or sagging foundation. Condition: considering their age, the doors are in great shape. All are strong, sturdy, and in great structural condition.We included close up photos of the worst blemishes each door has. Not surprisingly, these blemishes were not caused during the years they were installed and used, but instead caused in a few minutes by the contractor's men who removed the doors.
The doors have nicks, scrapes, and scratches, which will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, character marks. There are no breaks, cracks, rot, warp, or any serious issue.
S the doors are very well-built and are ready for another lifetime of service. Refinish/repaint: we could refinish, repaint, or partially or completely strip the doors to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish. Swing: doors#1, 2, & 4 are set up to swing into a room towards the right, or away from the room towards the left; doors#3 swings in the opposite direction.Modification: do you want to turn 2 of these doors into a pair do you want to replace the panels with glass, screen/mesh, or something else we could modify the doors to fit your opening or suite your needs.
