This is a set of 2 each very nice fluted glass door knobs measuring 2-1/16 with brass shanks. Salvaged together, these very cool knobs are mated to a set of antique cast iron japanned 2-3/16 rosettes with a great patina. Price is for the set of 2 each of these great examples of old and unique all-american awesomeness and craftsmanship. What is a dummy knob a dummy knob is for pulling, not for turning.

A dummy knob is a face-mounted knob assembly that acts as a way to open/close a door, pull/push, or side to side. Our antique dummy knobs are all american-made between 1860 and 1940 and each piece is unique and special.

Common applications for antique dummy knobs are. Closet, french, pantry, barn, wineroom/cellar, screen, gate/shed, or other door applications. Wall hooks - coats, hats, towels, pet leashes, lanyards, etc.

If you are ordering a knob set to cover a hole in your door, please measure the hole and make sure that this door plate (or rosette) is covering the hole and that you have enough wood available to mount the screws into. Most modern doors have a 2-1/8 knob set hole pre-drilled into the door. If you cannot find a plate large enough to cover the hole (in the design you would like) please send us a note and we will look through our offline inventory for you.

Sometimes we can use the same door knob and fit it to a larger plate because we usually (not always) do not affix the knob (permanently) to the plate/rosette until we have an order for it. Mounting to the wood surface is via screws through the door plate or rosette screw holes. This set is provided with a set of high-quality 1 high-quality brass, bronze, or stainless steel alloy #6 slotted wood screws.

We provide the correct head style for the assembly and only use slotted head design screws (because they are historically accurate). Please never use a phillips or other screw head types when installing historic antique hardware.

We supply 1 screws because this is the average size that people have requested. Remember that the depth into the wood is less than 1 because the door plate thickness must be accounted for.

If you think you need longer or shorter screws please make a note when you place your order. The thickness of the plate, the door, the type and age of the wood, and the actual application all come into consideration when specifying your screw length. The longer the screw, the more bite the assembly will have in the wood. Pilot hole installation of antique dummy knob assemblies. It is suggested that you pre-drill pilot small holes for your #6 screws.

The proper drill bits can be added to your order here. For french or double door installation. Optional installation kit: for your convenience, we have assembled a kit that gives you the basic tools for an easier, quicker, and cleaner installation of any antique dummy door knob.

The kit includes a pair of softwood and hardwood #6 screw drill bits (the size screws that are included with our dummy knobs and wooden hole cover/push plates). Also included is a 4oz tin of lube-n-screw screw lubricant, as well as a stainless steel 6 ruler with gauge, a mechanical pencil for marking your holes, and 2 #6 hollow core screw plugs in case you have missed the lock block on a hollow-core door.

All you need to provide is a screwdriver and drill. This kit is found at. We have been creating antique dummy door knobs since 2016.

Just hold onto that receipt so we can track the original order. This item is made of fluted glass.
