This is a cool set of 4 each antique crofton design wrought steel door knobs manufactured by reading hardware (reading, pa) in 1905. The 2-1/4" door knobs have a threefold flowing art nouveau design and are mated to a set of antique wrought steel door plates with two-step raised rims and a black finish which really makes the knobs pop the door plates measure 7-1/8" x 2-3/8 and this knob set is priced for the set of 4 each of these awesome pieces of old american door hardware. Ideal for a set of double or french doors.
This set is dummy knobs only a dummy knob is for pulling, not for turning. A dummy knob acts as a way to open/close a door, pull/push or side to side.
Ideal applications are on man doors, cabinet doors, barn doors or french doors. Any door that has an alternate method of latching, but needs a cool piece of original antique hand hardware to pull it open and closed with. Other applications include use as wall towel hooks or just wall art my antique dummy door knobs are all actual antique, period specific door knobs that have been mated to a door plate or rosette (the round door plates). Mounting to the surface is via screws through the door plate screw holes.
