Need a double door order two stock doors at the appropriate size as well as an astragal. This particular door has a pvc flat panel insert in the lower portion. This panel can be painted, but of course not stained. Therefore, this style of door is best if you plan to paint your door. Keep in mind that our astragals are 1/2 thick, and will be attached by the customer on site to the non-active door.
You want to account for this additional 1/2 width, as well as 1/4 gap between your doors, and 1/4 gap on either side of your doors, when calculating the size of your opening. Sapele is an excellent wood to use for screen doors due to its rot and insect resistance. However, as with any wood, there will be defects in the wood including small checks and voids.
We repair these with a combination of brown tinted epoxy or sapele inlays. The doors can be painted or stained. The epoxy may be visible on a stained door but we do our best to make it look like natural wood grain. We build our doors to last. Our typical door has a 4 3/4 top, and side rails and a 5 bottom rail. The mid rail is 4. Give us a little grace those number can vary depending on the door style and wood condition. Doors are not painted (or stained) and do not include hardware. The doors are treated with woodlife which helps to prevent mold and warping, as well as extending the life of an untreated door. The doors do not come in a jamb as most doors are hung directly on a porch column. The last photo in this series is an actual photo of the door as it will arrive, if ordered not primed. This item is made of sapele, wood and mahogany.
