A 1920 era skeleton key mortise lock set. This has the a skeleton key and all eight brass screws for mounting door plates. Item is " as is condition" and has lite corrosion on the door cover plates and knobs that can be cleaned and polished. There were no issues noticed at the time of acceptance as all the lock features and parts are in working condition.

This lock is for a 1 3/4" thick door, with a mortised hole 7/8" wide x 3 1/2" deep x 4 1/2" tall. Escutcheon door plates are 2 1/2" by 9 1/2". All original brass screws are with the set.

Interior and exterior knobs are 2 1/4. This is the early version of the auto lock latch. The inside knob does not open the locked latch, it has to be key operated. The deadbolt is also key operated only. The mortise auto lock is locked by pushing the bottom button on the mortise plate, and unlocked by either pushing the top button or using a key.

Once locked, the door could only be opened by using the key on either side of the door. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the room. No more locking with the key, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the top button. This item is made of steel and art deco design.
