Outside lock and hasp for a 1770-1820s wood box or small trunk. All brass except for the steel spring and key pin. Removed from an over zealously refinished small dome top valuables box dated to no later than 1823. All hand made and hand filed to shape. Comes with an associated period gothic style key.
Key fits a tad tight but works fine. Plate is 1 7/8" across, 1 3/8" tall. Hasp plate is 1 1/2" across and 9/16" above the hinge.
Hasp tab is 11/16'' below the barrel of the hinge so this is where the slot would start. Hasp is stamped on the back side with a 2.
Unpolished, working order, retains some of the original gilt surface. Comes with its 7 possibly original steel tacks.
